GLAMOROUS COPPER
Originally the owners were planning to bring a master suite, but then they looked up and recognized that the third-floor loft, with its peaked roof and exposed beams, presented an unusual opportunity. "The very first thing we shopped for was that bathtub," states Chicago-based designer Julia Buckingham. "It's the crown jewel."
OLD WORLD INSPIRATION
Get style for ages by incorporating antiques, like delicate Bagues-style sconces, a Baroque mirror plus a French-limestone vanity. Without leaving the house the complex finds produce a sense of dream.
STRIATED
Compensate to get a nonexistent linen closet with strategic storage. A mirrored medicine cabinet in a New York apartment steps 2 feet deep to match towels. The shelves inside are staggered around the plumbing, and a customized vanity conceals bins for dry cleaning and laundry.
CORNER MIRROR
The planet's smallest powder rooms should replicate this configuration. A mirror hung at an angle above a corner sink maximizes every inch, while clutter becomes stashed behind the fabric skirt. Add a dose of charm by mounting plates and sneaking in an orchid that is elegant.
SUNNY POOL HOUSE
Guests in a North Carolina home made by MA Allen pop in this changing area before hitting the pool. An integrated seat doubles as storage space for towels, and a gooseneck lighting fixture out of Barn Electric Co. brightens the CB2 mirror.
